Eighteen Water Withdrawal Permits Remain Suspended by SRBC

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission announced on August 11, 2011 that 18 water withdrawal permits remain suspended due to decreased stream flow levels. SRBC suspended 36 water withdrawal permits in mid-July because of low water levels. According to SRBC’s passby flow restrictions, when water levels dip below the pre-determined protective levels, holders of permits must stop making withdrawals until streams have recovered for at least 48 hours. The majority of the remaining suspended permits are held by natural gas producers.
