On July 16, 2015, the
Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas Resources
Management, adopted new
regulations for horizontal well site construction.
With the purpose of protecting public health and safety, the Ohio Department of
Natural Resources strengthened the existing well pad construction standards mandated
under the Ohio Administrative Code.
Under the new
regulations, operators will be required to submit detailed drawings of the
proposed well pads, including emergency release conveyance maps, sediment &
erosion, and dust control plans along with geotechnical and stormwater
hydraulic reports. A certified engineer must assist the applicant in submitting
the detailed drawing. The Chief of the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management
will be in charge of reviewing the application’s conformance with the
regulations.

the new regulations is available at: http://oilandgas.ohiodnr.gov/oil-gas-home/post/horizontal-well-site-construction-rules-go-into-effect.
