EQT Seeking an Injunction Ordering Landowners to Plug Water Wells

On September 24, EQT Corp. filed a lawsuit in US District Court, suing six West Virginia property owners who the company alleges subverted plans to put five gas wells on a 1,000-acre farm by drilling water wells first.  Under West Virginia law, gas companies can't drill within 250 feet of an existing water well or spring used for human consumption.

EQT wants a federal judge to issue an injunction ordering the landowners to plug and abandon the water wells.
