On November 10, 2011, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission granted a petition filed by Laser Northeast, a natural gas pipeline company, to withdraw its application for public utility status. Laser originally filed its application in January 2010 and in June 2011 the PUC determined its "gathering and transporting or conveying service by pipeline" to be a "public utility" as provided in the Public Utility Code, Title 66 of PA's Consolidated Statutes. Laser filed its petition to withdraw the application on September 8, 2011.
