On September 22, 2011, Chief Gathering, a Texas-based natural gas pipeline company, filed a lawsuit in the Middle District of Pennsylvania naming three members of the Gas Drillers Awareness Coalition as defendants. The complaint alleges that the activists tortiously interfered with existing and prospective contracts, used restrictive covenants to delay the construction of a Chief pipeline, and defamed the company. Chief is seeking nearly $20 million in damages.
