On July 15, 2011, Pennsylvania county judge Gary Caruso approved a $14 million settlement for a 2009 lawsuit filed by Westmoreland County landowners against Rex Energy Corp. According to the settlement, Rex Energy will offer five-year leases to 114 landowners. The leases will provide bonus payments of $2,500 per acre and 15% royalties.
