  • Government lifted a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing in the Karoo region September 2012. Moratorium had been in place since April 2011. (Huffington Post)
  • Royal Dutch Shell, Falcon Oil & Gas, Chevron, and Sunset Energy have exploration licenses. (Bloomberg)
  • Technical cooperation permits have been issued to Shell, Sasol, Chesapeake Energy, Statoil, Anglo Coal, and Sunset Energy (Oil & Gas Journal)
