PA Legislators Pass Bill Giving PUC Ability to Regulate Pipelines

A bill granting the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission the power to regulate gas pipelines that are not deemed a public utility has passed both chambers of the Pennsylvania legislature. The bill also gives PUC the authority to conduct safety inspections in coordination with federal agencies. House Bill 344 was originally passed by the House on April 4, 2011, and later by the Senate on December 13, 2011. The House approved of the Senate’s amendments to the bill on December 15, 2011.
